Taken through the iron fence and looking into a lower floor window at a flutist practicing at the Manhattan School of Music. And even though I live in Manhattan, Kansas, so you might be inclined to think this is in my hometown, it was taken in New York. Stephen Jacobsohn, the VP for Advancement and a very nice man, had just finished giving me a tour of the old section of the school, which was built in 1910 when my grandmother studied voice there. The building was built and occupied at that time by the Institute of Musical Art, which later became the Juilliard School. When the Juilliard moved to its present location at Lincoln Center in the '60s, the Manhattan School of Music took over that building and the later one that had been built by the Juilliard.
yes, non-inhabitants might be amazed that the arts exist in places like Kansas. I love the black and yellow contrasts here (nd the fact that front and back are both in focus)
@seattlite@randystreat@lynnz@hermann@yrhenwr@francoise Thanks for the comments. @francoise Yes, we have a lot of arts happening here -- just not the Manhattan School of Music on Claremont and 122nd Street in Manhattan, New York. I was very impressed by what Mr. Jacobsohn told me about their programs.
