Playtime at Prairie Paws! by mcsiegle

Playtime at Prairie Paws!

For my Get Pushed challenge, Sue challenged me to show something connected with the volunteering Dan and I do each week at the local animal shelter, now under the management of Prairie Paws, which also has a shelter in Ottawa, Kansas. "Preferably featuring a cat..." Sue said.

Each Friday we volunteer in the cat room, helping to socialize the cats, assisting potential adopters who stop in, putting together enrichment treats etc. Here you see Sapphire, one of three 6-month-old youngsters currently at the shelter and available for adoption--photographed with the kind permission of Brandon Sokol, shelter director.

What a great way to spend time on Friday afternoon--petting and playing with cats. I wish I had one tenth of the energy Sapphire has! She ran rings around those feathers!

Here's a link to more information on the shelter and the cats (and dogs!) available for adoption in Manhattan or in Ottawa.

Not a cat person but I really like this collage that shows her antics. You are so good to give of your time like this Mary

We had feral cats at one time at our other house. I would play with the kittens with a toy like this. They would play for the longest time!
