Spoon -- just spoon by mcsiegle

Spoon -- just spoon

Sunday afternoon and evening I tried to think of all the things that rhymed with June. I was trying to avoid the most obvious -- spoon, moon, etc. By midnight I had taken no photos that day at all, and was about decided to just go to bed like any intelligent person would. Then I caved in and headed down to the silverware drawer. As I was playing around with the silver and stainless steel, my eyes lit on the wooded eating utensils I've had for years but seldom, if ever, used. Experimented with trying to get them to blend in as much as possible with the plywood bottom of the drawer. Flash proved better for that, but without the flash I kind of like the simple, elegant shadow. I took various versions of spoons and spoons-and-forks. Later, in iPhoto, i tried to make some small adjustments with exposure, highlights, tint, temperature, contrast, etc etc. Ended up not really sure what would look best. This is what I offer for "rhymes with June" -- though posting two days late. I've put one of the photos with flash on the next day in this same album.

Would greatly appreciate opinions, constructive criticism, suggestions.
first - LOVE that you take photos like I do - the M&M shot for today is the same premise - getting tired and hadn't taken any pictures for today - so went to the kitchen to see what I could find. As far as making your spoon blend - I would have turned the spoon to match the direction of the grain and been straight above the spoon to not have the shadow. Saying that - I like how the wood tones match, and I like the shadow.

@iluvabcz Thanks. You know, I took a bunch of pictures of the spoons horizontal and this one on the diagonal, but I never thought of aligning them vertically with the grain. It takes another eye! I may try again sometime. Still have the spoons and still have the drawer until the upcoming kitchen remodel. :-)

I'd hang on to at least one drawer for use as an interesting background - the grain and tones are lovely - It's a lovely answer to the challenge and I love the warm wood tones (& the shadow!)

@kittikat Thanks! You know, after I wrote and posted this, it did occur to me that I could possibly save the drawer -- like I need more STUFF in our garage :-)
