Yet another picture for the get pushed challenge given me by Joan Robillard @joansmor to take a picture in natural light, but use the light to advantage. When I got off at noon, I found myself in the shade under this huge horse chestnut tree. The words of Wordsworth then came into my head: "Under a spreading chestnut tree, the vilage smithy stands..."
Such an idyllic, 19th century small town scene! The spreading chestnut tree under which the "village smithy stands." Contrasted to that is my view from under that tree -- chain link fence and machinery for the road work and construction going on up on campus.
Your choice of composition hides the distracting construction elements very well. Your choice of B&W further aides with that and lets us focus on the dappled light which is the subject of this photo. Well met for the challenge Mary.
