My get pushed challenge from Lisa @homeschoolmom was "a long-exposure night shot, maybe with some sort of light painting or light trails." About 9:30 tonight I was all set to give her a rain check on that as I still hadn't done anything for the challenge. Then I thought to myself "Just Do It." So I got the camera and the tripod and went downtown. I parked in the nearly empty lot of the mall and set up the camera at the edge of the bordering street at the point where the street heads up onto and across the viaduct. On the other side of the street is the Flint Hills Discovery Center and surrounding parking lot and other buildings. Played with various combinations of shutter speed and f stop and direction I was shooting. I posted the one I liked best in my main 365 album. https://365project.org/mcsiegle/365/2019-09-15
This one doesn't have light trails that are as nice, but I thought it was interesting, with orange light and bokeh from the flashing yellow light warning cars coming off the viaduct that the light at the corner is turning (or has turned) red and to be prepared to stop.
@homeschoolmom Lisa, thanks for the challenge. It was a beautiful night, with a little breeze. I wouldn't have minded staying out, but I do have to go to work tomorrow.
