Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion) is a Zen temple in Kyoto. The top two floors are completely covered in gold leaf. It's a beautiful structure set in the midst of lovely, tranquil gardens. Unfortunately our time in Kyoto coincided with Golden Week - one of Japan's three busiest holiday periods, so it was very crowded. I'm glad that we were able to take the girls to see this beautiful temple, but it was a very different visit to our first one in 2005.
