Though actually my first classroom in Arkansas had more desks (so glad THAT changed!) but I'm sure this was a one room school house not just one classroom. This was taken at the Fort Steele Heritage town east of the Kootanay Region in eastern British Columbia. This part authentic-part reconstructed town was started in the 1890's.
Nice memories. I have noticed these days that the younger generation don't know how to hold a pen correctly. I saw some strange contortions when watching a staff member writing when I was in the bank last week.
Beautiful capture. Our benches were for two people and in the middle of the bench there was a hole for an inkwell. My memory from my first years of learning is that I constantly drowning the nibs in ink.
