I got up way before sunrise today, climbed a hill through a lot of muddy patches, set up the tripod, and when the sun rose over the mountains,... my shutter curtain broke. :-( This is the last picture! I must confess that I expected it a bit, as the cameras shutter count is a point my predecessor model broke too. What a pity, it has to be in our travel time. I liked this camera a lot, and was very happy it recovered from last years vacation accident, when we both fell in a river in Nova Scotia. But as it has some quirks, I most probably will not repair it this time, and save money for a newer model. I try to think positive and being glad to have my little Sony RX100 IV with me, but it is not the same. Still, don‘t we say always it‘s the eye behind the camera and not the camera that takes the picture?
„thanks dear sony 77ll for being such a good companion for such a long time, I learned a lot with you“
Sorry to hear about your camera. Although I agree the RX100 is not the same, I do find mine a great travel camera, and after all that is why we take a back up with us.
oh nooo so sorry to hear this. my olympus had the same problem when we were visiting new orleans a couple of years ago :( very glad you have a back-up with you, even if inferior. this is a beautiful image all the same
Oh no! Too bad. Sonys are great, though, and new models are some amazing pieces of stuff. On the other hand, with you eye, you could shoot masterpieces with a cigarette lighter.
Even with a broken camera you manage to get a magnificent capture. Sorry about your camera but I am sure you do exceptionally well with any kind of camera.
@bob65@gilbertwood@northy@lesip@randystreat@ludwigsdiana@caterina Thank you all for your empathy concerning my beloved camera going over the Jordan and the encouraging comments concerning whatever camera I have in may hands. I’m humbled by your words, thank you so much for your kindness. Well I take this as a challenge. (not with a cigarette lighter though @domenicododaro). As we happened to be in a little town in Scotland yesterday, I walked in in the only electronics „store“ and spent my travel pocket money on the only dslr camera they had on stock. :-), by clicking on a screen. Like online shopping in a store. So I‘m the owner of a tiny lil’ Canon now, with a simple kit lens. Having an interims backup for the backup.
