June is winding down and I haven't really posted as many gratitude pictures as I should have. It's not that I can't think of things to be grateful for each day. That's easy for me. Lately, when I've had a day where I took many photographs, I've had a hard time choosing which ones to post, and usually the gratitude picture gets bumped (which was the case yesterday with Hello Mr. Toad). So today, I was determined to photograph the stained glass windows at church and put them together in a collage. The collage looks fine, but these windows are so gorgeous, I felt it was a discredit to their beauty to lump them all together. So, I will use some of the others in days to come, but which one to post today? It literally came down to two similar shots, and then this one finally won out.
Up until 2 years ago, my husband and I worshipped in a number of churches, but none of their sanctuaries were as grand and glorious as the church that I grew up in. One church even met in a school gynasium. Now, where you worship is not a critical factor in how you worship. The most important factor is WHO you worship. But I must say, I loved the stained glass windows of the church of my childhood. When the light would come streaming through their beautiful colors and paint rainbows on the walls, I really felt like I was in God's throne room. So, all these years later, I am delighted and grateful to be back in a church that has stained glass windows. When I look at them close-up, the detail and artistry is amazing. And windows, such as this one, take my attention off of me, and place it on the One I've come to worship. I am grateful for the artist who crafted it. I am grateful for its message. I am grateful I am free to enter my church and worship openly. And I am grateful for Jesus who made it all possible.
@kerristephens@digitalrn@supergrannie Thank you Kerri, Rick and Shirley. I am also soooo grateful for your faithful views and comments. I really feel blessed that you take the time to look at all my posts and leave a thought or two for me. Thank you!!!
@bkbinthecity Thanks bkb. Since the lights were off in the sanctuary the window was lit solely by the sunlight coming inside. It seemed to be floating!
