I took this ahead of time last week while at church. These stained glass diamonds were too beautiful not to include in my Same September shape collection!
Stained glass work has always fascinated me. Tried it as a hobby for a few years but the glass is so expensive and quite difficult to come by especially if you are not living in a big city!
@salza Thanks Sally- oh I've wanted to learn how to do it, but never had the resources for the classes. I do have a friend though that does it. She made some beautiful pieces for the windows in her home! @louisefrance Thanks Louise- and thanks so much for the fav! @netkonnexion Thank you so much Damon! @potsbypam Thanks Pam! @kandernob Thanks Karen! @filsie65 Thank you Phil! @cdonohoue Thank you Cathy! Me too- ever since I was a little girl!
@worthitall Thanks Rashella! @cimes1 Thank you Carole! @ruthmouch Thank you Ruth! @woot Thank you Davide. I am standing below the window shooting upwards for this shot. @lyno Thank you Lyn! @henrir Thank you Henri!
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie! It's an interesting window- part of the brown you see might actually be that it needs washing! Outside that is- it's a second story window on the outside so not easy to reach. As for Laraine, I put up names of people that I know are faithful to comment and offer support, have interesting and fun shots (I'm sure she is going to enjoy the adventures of Mr. Man!) and just are all-around fun people to know! Thanks for being a part of the welcoming committee!
You're right, they are beautiful! Great shot! I love the patterns and the colors. I'm half tempted to go into my local church just to take pictures of the stained glass windows but I don't think that would be very nice to go in, take photos and go back out again. I know my dad (who sings there) would not be happy if he found out! Really nice shot, Ann! Well done!
@prttblues Thanks Bev- I don't think the church would mind- as long as the sanctuary is not being used. We have people come to look at our sanctuary all the time. I guess you should just make sure your dad doesn't see you if it bothers him that much! @allie912 Thanks Allison- I can see how it does look a bit like a quilt- so many of them had patterns like this.
stained glass? wow! i never would've guessed. and usually at churches, stained are often depicting scenes from the bible. pretty shot of your diamonds.
@sailingmusic Thank you Myrna! @steeler Thank you Howard! @myautofocuslife Thank you Livia! @summerfield Thank you Vikki! We have some of both-Biblical scenes and geometric with symbols. We also have one window that may be a Tiffany piece.
@vposey Thanks Vickie! For these I had to as church is about 45 minutes from our home. I can't just pop over and take a shot, so I took it ahead of time. I don't have a problem with that, although I know there are some who faithfully do the shot a day approach. I was more careful about that my first year, but year 2 is more "whatever works for me"!
I have a love affair with stained glass.
