I haven't started baking things for the holidays yet, but last Sunday we celebrated a friend's birthday and his wife had the table set so lovely, I took a quick shot before we ate.
@cimes1 Carole, you would love Debbie's house! You and she have similar tastes. I can imagine you talking for hours. @jackie8 Thanks Jackie. Yes I'd have to agree. I know Debbie was putting this all together for the entire week beforehand. Next time I see her I'm going to let her know how everyone on 365 admired her lovely table. That will truly bring a smile to her face.
Very festive. I'd love to do this but I don't have a large house and storage is an issue. Sometimes all the extras overrun the house. So, I just try to keep things simple. Love this, though. :-)
@dmortega I am somewhere in between- I do love table linens so I've got different options between napkins, placemats and napkin rings. And I do have lots of angels. But I have been slowly parring down on the rest of it over the last few years. Unless it's something truly sentimental, I don't want my poor sons to have to sort through it all (or their wives!) and try to figure out what's what. Debbie, on the other hand, is not as space limited as I am, so she's got a lot of festive decorations to put out. But even she was saying it's getting to be too much.
this table setting brings back memories for me, when i used to host dinner parties for my boyfriend a long, long time ago. i learned all these from browsing through ashley magazines. yes, you do have to do the preps for more than a week, especially if you have 20 guests to feed at a sit down dinner and you still have to cook. twas a good learning experience and i do this for me and partner on special occasions. why, his birthday's coming up and my special linen and cutlery will have to come out. photo op? of course, that's the only reason i would be doing it! you did great in framing the shot and delivering the ambience to your viewers. great job, my friend!
Thank you one and all- a blanket thank you so that I can no go look at your lovely pictures!
Thank you Sally, Julie, Alia and Dione. Yes, Debbie always sets a lovely table, and believe me Dione, we were all hungry and ate well!!
