I think I've given myself a good challenge this week. Of course it's easy to take an effect and apply it to the picture (which will probably happen at least once!), but can I turn this abstract into a different picture, and if so, how? This morning I decided to try merging two similar but different pictures together- in a way something that shows man imitating nature. But when I finished with this, it made me think of the game show "Let's Make a Deal" when Gene Rayborn (I think he was the emcee) would say, "Let's see what's behind curtain #1"!
To me, it looks mysterious and maybe a little sinister--like a woman peeking through her blinds to see what's in the woods, The misty woods adds to the effect. Nicely done!
@anazad511 Thank you Ana! And thank you so much for the fav!! @dakotaburns Thanks Donald! I was debating back and forth whether or not to use a colorful version of those trees or a black and white version. In the end, I liked the different colors of this one and that I could fade one picture into the other. @humphreyhippo Thanks Humphrey! I had not seen that aspect originally. I liked that I could fade the black area of the blinds into the tree scene. But now that you've pointed it out, I like that too! @salza Thanks Sally! I hadn't really seen that aspect of the two pictures together until you and Humphrey pointed it out! @ruthmouch Thank you Ruth! @maggiemae Thank you Maggie! @bruni Thanks Bruni! I think! @paulavdmerwe Thank you Paula! @digitalrn Thank you Rick! I've had kind of a lack-luster day and am feeling a bit uninspired right now, so your vote of confidence is really appreciated!
Wow ... there goes your creativity again. This is such a stunning linear .. and great textures in the trees. I love the "strength and softness" in this photo.
@automaticslim Thanks Andy! I thought you'd like the frame! @henrir Thanks Henri! That shot has also been processed. I was dabbling with the idea of posting the tree shot this week and playing around with different exposures and effects. I think that one has the "night vision" effect applied and then "adjustable threshold". It looks like I may have done something with cross processing too, but I forget now! @karenann Thank you Karenann! I was playing around with the idea of something manmade imitating something natural. But in the end put these two together because they blended well in the black area.
I like this. It may be the suggestions of dark and sinister that made me feel uneasy but it could've been the trees in the opening to the old "tales from the darkside". Great creativity in this
@daisy Thank you Kathryn! @mrssmith Thank you Carla! Although it's not the "official" background- you actually can see this little section of woods from my dining room which is where these blinds are located. @pandorasecho Thanks Dixie- I was actually not thinking of either of those things, but I can understand how people could feel that with the processing I did on the picture of the trees. I do find it interesting that others saw something very different than what was intended. @groovygirlrn Thank you Sheri!
I really like this Ann. I like the contrast of the blinds and outdoors and am quite impressed that you merged 2 shots. I totally love the processing on trees. Fav for me.
@tara11 Thank you Tara! I was thinking of posting the tree shots this week, but changed my mind and went with the blinds. But I got to thinking they'd make a nice contrast of organic to manmade and thus the merger took place! Thank you so much for the fav!!
@summerfield Thanks Vikki- yes technically a collage because I used the collage layout- but there is no separation between shots so that the black on each photo runs together and looks like it's one picture.
@kandernob Thank you Karen- I'm familiar with that show although I never watched it. Yes, this is in that style, isn't it? Thanks so much for the fav!!
@allie912 Oh, you know Allison, I could see his face but for the life of me could not remember his name! I knew Gene Rayburn was wrong, but it was the only name I could pull out of the recesses of my mind at the time! I too, watched both shows quite faithfully along with Truth or Consequences and Hollywood Squares. (o: Those were the days!! Thanks for reminding me/correcting me!!
@eudora Thanks Diane!
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri!
@eniaral Thanks Laraine!
@wadazomo Thanks Dave!
@cimes1 Thanks Carole!
It's interesting to see your reactions to the trees! I had not thought of that at all!
