Light Through the Blinds 1

I think I've given myself a good challenge this week. Of course it's easy to take an effect and apply it to the picture (which will probably happen at least once!), but can I turn this abstract into a different picture, and if so, how? This morning I decided to try merging two similar but different pictures together- in a way something that shows man imitating nature. But when I finished with this, it made me think of the game show "Let's Make a Deal" when Gene Rayborn (I think he was the emcee) would say, "Let's see what's behind curtain #1"!
Nice lines Ann.

To me, it looks mysterious and maybe a little sinister--like a woman peeking through her blinds to see what's in the woods, The misty woods adds to the effect. Nicely done!

Awesome shot
January 15th, 2013
i'm thinking the big bad wolf is behind one of the trees! i like this effect, Ann.
January 15th, 2013
Agree with Diane, spooky almost sinister woods await if you go outside
January 15th, 2013
I love doing abstracts at times. This is GREAT! Clever effects.

@michaelelliott Thanks Michael!
@eudora Thanks Diane!
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri!
@eniaral Thanks Laraine!
@wadazomo Thanks Dave!
@cimes1 Thanks Carole!

It's interesting to see your reactions to the trees! I had not thought of that at all!

Beautiful composition. Love the lines, and the peeking through the window. FAV.
January 15th, 2013
The juxtaposition creates an interesting effect.
January 15th, 2013
Interesting juxtaposition. I like the shallowness of the left, and the depth of the right.
January 15th, 2013
Wonderful idea! The left side seems to be in 3D!
January 15th, 2013
That is seriously neat!!
January 15th, 2013
To me its like looking out of a window at the beautiful tree scene!
January 15th, 2013
I would rather stay behind the blinds..outside it looks eerie. you come up with such neat ideas.
January 15th, 2013
Wow, this is a beautiful shot!
January 15th, 2013
Well it will be fun to see what you come up with this week. I think you will have some great ideas.
January 15th, 2013
@anazad511 Thank you Ana! And thank you so much for the fav!!
@dakotaburns Thanks Donald! I was debating back and forth whether or not to use a colorful version of those trees or a black and white version. In the end, I liked the different colors of this one and that I could fade one picture into the other.
@humphreyhippo Thanks Humphrey! I had not seen that aspect originally. I liked that I could fade the black area of the blinds into the tree scene. But now that you've pointed it out, I like that too!
@salza Thanks Sally! I hadn't really seen that aspect of the two pictures together until you and Humphrey pointed it out!
@ruthmouch Thank you Ruth!
@maggiemae Thank you Maggie!
@bruni Thanks Bruni! I think!
@paulavdmerwe Thank you Paula!
@digitalrn Thank you Rick! I've had kind of a lack-luster day and am feeling a bit uninspired right now, so your vote of confidence is really appreciated!
January 15th, 2013
Nice choice of colours and frame.
January 15th, 2013
I like this a lot. I love the glimpse of green outside.
January 15th, 2013
Wow ... there goes your creativity again. This is such a stunning linear .. and great textures in the trees. I love the "strength and softness" in this photo.
January 16th, 2013
@automaticslim Thanks Andy! I thought you'd like the frame!
@henrir Thanks Henri! That shot has also been processed. I was dabbling with the idea of posting the tree shot this week and playing around with different exposures and effects. I think that one has the "night vision" effect applied and then "adjustable threshold". It looks like I may have done something with cross processing too, but I forget now!
@karenann Thank you Karenann! I was playing around with the idea of something manmade imitating something natural. But in the end put these two together because they blended well in the black area.
January 16th, 2013
Great effect. Great lines.
January 16th, 2013
Creative idea! I like how we can see just enough of the background to tease us. I like this.
January 16th, 2013
I like this. It may be the suggestions of dark and sinister that made me feel uneasy but it could've been the trees in the opening to the old "tales from the darkside". Great creativity in this
January 16th, 2013
I love it!
January 16th, 2013
@daisy Thank you Kathryn!
@mrssmith Thank you Carla! Although it's not the "official" background- you actually can see this little section of woods from my dining room which is where these blinds are located.
@pandorasecho Thanks Dixie- I was actually not thinking of either of those things, but I can understand how people could feel that with the processing I did on the picture of the trees. I do find it interesting that others saw something very different than what was intended.
@groovygirlrn Thank you Sheri!

Bev
Very cool edit. It looks like you are looking out the window with the blinds half open! Very creative. Well done :)
January 16th, 2013
@prttblues Thank you Bev!! That's really what I was hoping someone would say when I decided to blend the two pictures together.
January 16th, 2013
Neat look to this shot Ann. I hope you like what you found behind the curtain :)
January 16th, 2013
So cool and clever! I would never think to do something like this! Love it.
January 16th, 2013
Beautiful shot. Love the composition and the lines.
January 16th, 2013
Fantastic work. Love the creativity :)
January 16th, 2013
@bkbinthecity Thanks Brian! lol Today there is snow behind the curtain!
@deniseinindy Thanks Denise!
@sangwann Thanks Dione!
@rachelmackenzie Thank you Rachel! I appreciate your stopping by!
January 16th, 2013
I really like this Ann. I like the contrast of the blinds and outdoors and am quite impressed that you merged 2 shots. I totally love the processing on trees. Fav for me.
January 18th, 2013
@tara11 Thank you Tara! I was thinking of posting the tree shots this week, but changed my mind and went with the blinds. But I got to thinking they'd make a nice contrast of organic to manmade and thus the merger took place! Thank you so much for the fav!!
January 18th, 2013
Wonderful lines and tones, another creative way to process =)
January 18th, 2013
@tanja_1211 Thank you Tanja!
January 18th, 2013
Great image.
January 18th, 2013
@la_photographic Thank you Laura!
January 18th, 2013
so is this like a collage? brilliant!
January 19th, 2013
@summerfield Thanks Vikki- yes technically a collage because I used the collage layout- but there is no separation between shots so that the black on each photo runs together and looks like it's one picture.
January 19th, 2013
love these abstract shots, this one stands out. It immediately. made me think of the tv series back in the 80s Twin Peaks by David Lynch. fave.
January 19th, 2013
@kandernob Thank you Karen- I'm familiar with that show although I never watched it. Yes, this is in that style, isn't it? Thanks so much for the fav!!
January 19th, 2013
How could you forget Monty Hall, MC of Let's Make a Deal? Gene Rayburn's biggie was The Match Game. I watched 'em all!
January 19th, 2013
@allie912 Oh, you know Allison, I could see his face but for the life of me could not remember his name! I knew Gene Rayburn was wrong, but it was the only name I could pull out of the recesses of my mind at the time! I too, watched both shows quite faithfully along with Truth or Consequences and Hollywood Squares. (o: Those were the days!! Thanks for reminding me/correcting me!!
January 19th, 2013
very creative love the contrast
January 24th, 2013
@demmie Thanks Demmie! I've been having fun with these processing experiments!
