I was on my way to the shoe repair and was stopped at a light when I saw this shot. Given a little more time, I might have balanced the composition better, but I do love the green door against the brick red.
Thank you Marc! I was sitting there waiting for the light, wishing it would change and then I really saw what I was parked next too. Of course then I wanted the light to stay red!

@cortens It bothers me that the bricks in the arch over the door are cut off a little bit. I'd prefer to see them completely and a little less of the sidewalk. That's probably due to the fact that I was shooting through the passenger side of the car from the driver's seat! But side to side I like the balance just fine.
I think cutting them off adds dynamic. There is a balance between the strong white lines of the water spouts and the door. I think it is more about strong balanced colour then about the pattern of the bricks. And the sidewalk grounds it. I like it just the way it is. :)
@cortens Good point! I'm always glad when another photographer tells me why it works the way it is. I think it's my nature to want everything to be "perfect". Sometimes it's better that I just let go of that since nothing is really perfect!
