I still have a small amount of wood to stack. It's leftover from what we will need through the winter, so I haven't been as aggressive in getting the job done. But I was out yesterday putting a few logs on the rack and noticed some ferns growing on the forest floor behind our property. Some fronds still retained the robust green of summer but others had faded to a soft yellow-green which only means one thing: summer is about to say good-bye.
FAV!!! I love these ferns!! We have them all over our back woods too. When they first come up and they are curled and hairy, they say you can eat them on your salads or just by themselves. I haven't gotten up the nerve to try one yet! Have you ever eaten any? They are just pretty though and such a pretty design! Great details and composition!!! We could stand some cooler weather here!!
@pandorasecho Thanks Dixie! Yes- and sage and cacti are fascinating to those of us who grew up around ferns!
@daisyjuds Thank you Judith! @gratefulness Thank you Sandi! I know- mostly because it is common for them to grow alongside a cool bubbling brook! @bkbinthecity Thank you Brian! @susale Thank you Suse! I used to think of winter as bad but not any more. Although I don't look forward to the cold, I know that the ground needs the rest winter provides. So I remind myself not to complain too much, and enjoy winter's beauty instead. @cashew Thank you Kathy and thank you for the fav too! Yes, I've actually had them and they're good! Mine were sautéed in a light butter sauce and reminded me a little bit of asparagus although the taste was unique. But it does have to be the early sprouts and not the full grown plant. I can't remember why though- perhaps they're the most tender then. @thistle Thank you Joyce! @alia_801 Thank you Alia! @salza Thank you Sally! @yaorenliu Thank you Yao- yes that is a good reminder that we will have some beautiful colors before the white stuff falls! @sangwann Thank you Dione! I'm sure yours will hold off longer than ours thanks to your wonderful Mediterranean climate! @digitalrn Thank you Rick! @kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @jackie8 Thank you Jackie! @pyrrhula Thank you Pyrrhula! I have enjoyed your comments over the last week and also your lovely pictures! Thanks for the follow too! @altadc Thank you Alta! @skstein Thank you Sandy!
My thanks to all of you. I must get to bed early tonight because the Photo Club is going on an outing tomorrow. But I will catch up when I get back from our "shoot out" as we call them.
