Remember these? I took them for the current competition in our photo club. But as usual, I am struggling with the decision as to which ones to enter. The top row are the two contenders for "Slide" and the bottom row are the possible entries for "Tracks". The interpretation of these words is left wide open, and true to my life in general right now, I had completely different pictures in mind! But this is what I ended up with- traditional shots with a little twist. So, if you were going to choose one of each, which ones would you choose and why?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and opinions. This is always the hardest thing for me to do!!
the two left ones for me - the shot shows 'slide' by the suggested action of the child, whereas the right could be construed as anything. the off centre track of the bottom photo, imo, is more engaging than the right one.
@summerfield Thanks Vikki! Those are the two I was leaning towards- but I'm always second guessing myself. I value your input! Can't wait to see how many people say the other two!
Just my opinion! Top left because that is what kids do best, they slide and have a blast doing it and he looks like that is what he's doing. However, I would go with the bottom right one for tracks, because it's different and I love different. The lighting is great and it looks like the tracks wouldn't hold a train and if they did it would do some wobbling!!
If you still have time to enter, you might consider some foot print tracks in sand, or step in something wet and take photos of the foot prints on concrete!!! Just an idea!!! Anyway, I like the collage and a fav from me on all of them!
I like the two on the left. The little boy adds to the slide and the track shows depth and texture. So those are what I'd go for, but that's just my opinion. They are all great shots. Too bad you can't use them all.
Probably the top left if you want a portrait or candid in the group. Of the rails, I like both, the angle of the one on the left and the focus and framing of the one on the right. But in the end, I"d go with the one on the left.
I like the pictures on the left. I loved the picture of the tracks from the first time I saw it. The top left says slide to me instantly plus the joy on the youngster's face is just bursting forth!
Haha it's a matter of interpretation and personal choice. For me it's the two on the right. Top right is for the composition with the black thing framing part of the picture. Bottom right is for the curve and the processing. The more you get opinions the more difficult it will be to select.
I like the two on the left, although they are all worthy. You have a hard decision to make! The slide, because of that cute smile and it works as a verb - SLIDE!!! Great color and perfect framing. The train tracks I like the curve of the rust/brown color and the monotone/sepia throughout. The rails make me wonder where the tracks go. Hope this helps and good luck!
I like both of the left hand photos. The left slide photo represents the noun form of slide and the verb form of slide. The right slide photo is a nice graphic photo, but it is more difficult to tell that this is a slide. The left track photo has a nice angle. I like the color tones. I wonder where the tracks go. I think the building in the background adds to this mystery. The right track is more abstract. It is nice, but does not have as good of color tones.
Thank you so much everyone!! It was fun to see which ones appealed the most to you and why. In the end your input helped to confirm my "gut" feelings about which ones I should enter. I always second guess myself! So, I will be entering the two on the left (although I confess, I wish we could enter more than one shot because I really like the "wonky" tracks too!).
@cashew Thanks for the suggestions Kathy! I like them, but I'm running out of time to submit these so I'll have to take a rain check on your idea! Funny, but for tracks I initially had hoped to get a shot of my grandson Micah crawling through the grass leaving "tracks" as he goes- somewhat of a variation on your idea.
@pyrrhula Thank you Pyrrhula! The second slide shot is much darker in its mood so I was never really keen on submitting that one. But I did go back and forth on the train tracks.
They are all great. and I see you now say you will enter the ones on the left. That is what I was going to say were my favorites before I saw you say ing that. They rock.
@espyetta Thanks Marybeth! @yaorenliu Thanks Yao! I agree- I could not get the color to come out any more than it did in that program though. @anazad511 Thank you Ana!
Once again, I am odd man out. I like both on the right. The top for all the angles and the pop or orange and the bottom right for the unexpected turn of the tracks. Good luck.
