Our camera club went to an ice sculpting display today. Located in a huge warehouse, the theme was "Under the Sea" and it featured over 10,000 tons of ice carved into sea creatures, ice slides and even the Titanic! I was fascinated with the way the light reflected in and off of the ice depending on the way each piece was lit. Keeping in mind that I needed to find a subject that would work well in black and white, I also paid attention to the way some of the sculptures were lit. This seahorse was completely back lit and that really brought out the shadows and highlights of the carving. The only processing I did on this was to sharpen it a bit (hand held in low light in a COLD building makes it hard to stay completely still but it was too busy for a tripod) and to up the contrast enough to make the dark spots dark and the white spots white. Oh, yes, I did clone out a couple distracting white slits from the siding which had gaps in it.
Great shot, Ann. Love the shiny look. It's beautiful. Your processing is cool. Fav! Oh btw - I saw you mentioned too busy for tripod. Did you find anything out about my tripod?
@prttblues Thanks Bev and thanks so much for the fav! I've tried emailing Narlene about the tripod, but I think what I'll do next is post on her facebook page- she's on there quite a bit from what I can tell!
@ukandie1 Thank you Ukandie! I took this one rather early on- but by the end of the visit I was shivering too much for detailed shots! @vesna0210 Thank you Vesna!

It really was fascinating to see the way the light interacted with the ice. I will probably post a few more shots from the day this week.
Shows well in b&w, love the contrasts.
@salza Thank you Sally!
@bill_fe Thank you Bill- and thanks for the fav too!
