I had been thinking about one subject I could study all week but after yesterday's tree shot, I knew I wouldn't able to go back and get another picture of the same trees, so, it's a same theme study rather than the same subject. Today's weather was off the wall! We woke to a slight covering of snow which was coated with a thin sheet of ice. About mid-morning the rain came in buckets!! We lost power for about 45 minutes as the wind was almost as strong as the rain. By mid-afternoon the rain had stopped and for a brief time we even had a little sun. But then the clouds returned and the breeze picked up again. The temperatures were moderate for most of the day, but now, well into the night, they're back to the seasonal norm. During the break in the afternoon I took some time to scout out a picture or two in the backyard. I was really intrigued by the reflections in the puddles left behind from the morning's deluge. Since the ground froze during our bitter cold days last week, most of it sat on top of the gravel for quite some time. I like how the stones which cover our backyard give the shot a natural texture. I played up the contrast for fun and to give it an ominous mood.
This one fooled me. I thought at first glance it was trees being back lit from some source but after reading your commentary I see that it is a reflection in the water. Nicely done.
Many many thanks to one and all! Wow- the PP and I thought it was just "a quick shot" to play around with! You're so supportive- it always makes my day.
And a special thanks to all of you who fav'd it!
@grammyn Not to worry Katy- you can shoot one thing or a number of things. It's always up to you. The assignments are merely guidelines. Everyone modifies them to suit their own needs.
