Thanks to Joan @joansmor who played tour guide for me, I had a wonderful time in southern Maine capturing lighthouse pictures- something I've always wanted to do!
The Nubble Lighthouse, is also known as The Cape Neddick Lighthouse. In 1874 Congress appropriated $15,000 to build a light station at the "Nubble" and in 1879 construction began. Once finished the lighthouse was put into service and is still in service today. The 41-foot lighthouse sits on the summit of the Cape Neddick Nubble, a small offshore rocky islet overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of Maine's most well-known lighthouses.
No need to comment on all the posts today- I've got some catching up to do!
Your edit is perfect. The blue sky is nice but I always like a little interest in the skay and you have added it here. And your composition is perfect.
@randystreat I think the one you're thinking of is The Bass Harbor Light located in Acadia National Park. However, this one is also highly photographed too. I had a fun experience here while photographing this landmark. A family of 5 with 2 deaf members asked me to take their photo. The one hearing fellow who asked told me to pose them any way that looked good so I made sure the lighthouse was in the background. But when I tried to do the same for the deaf girl she didn't want it in the picture! All she wanted was their faces. I thought that was rather amusing.
