I was shooting some sunflowers outside today when this leaf fell on the deck. It was so graceful in the way that it fluttered to the wood floor, I decided it deserved a photo too. Then I got to thinking. We often focus on the beautiful colors of fall, but never the fact that those colors signify death. As the trees shut down for winter, they withhold food from their leaves, and those leaves slowly starve to death. In a way it seems so bizzare, so crazy! Life can feel that way too. And when we struggle with the bizarre, the crazy events that don't seem to make sense, it can also seem meaningless. Those thoughts reminded me of this quote by Pamela Reeve in her book "Faith Is", so I added it to the picture. God has set a pattern in the way of the seasons. If the tree continued its production throughout the winter, it might "burn itself out" as we would say. But the rest of the winter, renews and refreshes the tree for Spring. I think God has me in a winter right now. So I must allow His pattern to work in my life. I must remind myself of what faith is...
@kerristephens@jmj@httpgeffed Thank you Kerri! Thank you Jennifer! Thank you Colleen! This one really "spoke" to me today- although I had several really nice shots of some withered sunflowers. They'll pop up in the second album later on.
@cimes1 Thanks Carole. I truly appreciate your fav!! Yes, I am unpublished (except for the weekly column I write in church), but I am a writer. I believe I have actually improved as a writer thanks to 365! I am considering publishing an e-book. It's pretty much ready to upload. I am in the final editing mode right now. It is a series of devotions from my travels in Israel with pictures that I took while there.
@mrssmith Thank you so much Carla!
@sarasdadandmom thanks Terry!
