I finished stacking all the wood today. Jeff says I have stacked 5 cords altogether. We'll definitely be warm this winter! (top left to bottom right: All gone- and I only found 1 toad and 1 snake- but lots and lots of salamanders!; leftover pieces of bark for Jeff to rake up; the last of the stacked wood ready to dry out; and one final view of all my hard work. Ahhhhhh!)
good job - that is a lot of work - well done. We use to have a wood stove and there is just something about the heat that is so much warmer then forced air furnace.
@friendie We do enjoy it Carole- but we heat this way out of financial necessity more than anything else. We get all the wood free, so it doesn't cost us anything to heat the house (unless you want to count sweat equity!). Thanks!
@sarah19 Thanks Sarah- it always looks so nice those first few weeks before burning. @daveanajao Thanks Dave- yes, I felt achy, but good! @steeler Thanks Howard. Our house, since it is not a large house, it'sjust right for us- will be very toasty come November. I have to chuckle though, because heat will be the last thing you folks want then! @melorac Thanks Carole!
@pandorasecho Thanks for the comment Dixie- I whole heartedly agree with you in many ways! I don't LOVE the hauling- but I love the feeling at the end when I see how organized the stacked wood looks. I love the way it looks spreading across the backyard. So natural.
