Pals

I celebrated my Aunt Joan's 80th birthday today with my family. It was so good to see everybody again, share some laughs and family stories and marvel at how quickly the time has gone by. As we were leaving the restaurant I happened to look up and see these 3 pigeons sitting on top of the chimney- a picture begging to be taken. But I knew my point and shoot wouldn't take a clear shot- it was out of its range. I took it anyway. When I uploaded it to Picmonkey and played around with the hue and saturation settings, this is what happened. I decided to keep it rather than post the gray and dreary original, even though it's a little different.
I like it! Kind of antiqued looking.

Awesome pov and you know what, Ann, this reminds me of Italy...think that it's the color tones.

@httpgeffed Thanks Colleen- it doesn't really have any effects on it- the hue and saturation has been altered.
@karenann Thanks Karenann! It was an experiment that just happened to turn out this way!

that's awesome! My grandpa just celebrated his 80th a few days ago. I wish I could have been there but he lives 8 hours north.

Great processing, Ann.

I lik eit. I didn't realize PicMonkey was up and running yet. So how do you like it?

@kerristephens Thank you Kerri!
@ellimae Thanks Ellen. Yes, I wasn't bothered by it so much in this picture, but other times it just makes me hit the delete button asap!
@annaruth Thanks Anna! Happy Birthday to your Grandpa!
@sangwann Thanks Dione. It's ok. The three pigeon buddies sitting on top of a sign that reads "Pals" was too good to pass up.
@digitalrn Thanks Rick. PicMonkey is not bad. It has the basics of Picnik and is just as easy to use. They've redesigned it for obvious copyright reasons. But it's easy to figure out. Hopefully they will add in the collage and mirror frame plus a few other effects and I think it will replace Picnik in popularity.

I like the way you turned this presumably bad photo in your eyes into art. Sometimes we are our own worst critic.

First a Happy Birthday to your aunt. I hope she'll have many many more. how appropicate for the words pals to be on the side of this building..pals like the three pigeons on the roof. likeyour editing in Picmonkey..I've thried them and yes they are easy to follow enough but I still will miss picnik..maybe they can't duplicate it completely and that's why they don't have the collages.

@rhubbard Thanks Richard- I liked the shot but the Powershot A560 does not have a great zoom for such long distances, so it was very grainy. I expected it and knew that I'd some fun processing to turn it into a better photo. I have other photos I can be critical of, but this one I'm not because the camera was being pushed beyond its limits.
@bruni Thanks Bruni! PicMonkey will improve over time. It was created by some of the people who made Picnik and I think they're just waiting for Picnik to officially close up shop before they introduce the "good stuff". On the home page they have a little tag that says "Coming Soon- Collages". So keep your eyes open (so to speak).

Fab capture and love the processing. Way cool, Ann!

@cimes1 Thanks Carole! Just fooling around with the hue and saturation on this one. No fancy Picnik effects on this one.
