It was so quiet last night. A soft fine snow was falling and I wondered what a black and white shot might look like with just the light shining from the side of the house.
Thank you Maggie, Donald, Janice, Lisa, Nicole, Dione, Rick, Carole and Cindy!
I love that you all enjoyed the mystery of this shot. I liked it too. I must confess, they are not my footprints- rather Jeff's as the door to our crawlspace (like a basement but shorter for those of you not in the US) is just around the corner. He keeps all his tools there. As for what's in the shadows, I don't have to worry too much. Usually it's only deer and they run away most of the time!
@daisy Thank you Kathryn! I have never taken a shot like this in b/w before, but I'd gone out to get a piece of wood from the rack and saw the way the light was falling onto the snow and thought "Mmmm, I wonder what this would look like in a b/w shot."
Excellent black and white ... the high contrast treatment, if not the subject matter reminds me a little of Bill Brandt. Love that dark void in the background.
