I had such a fun time with Nada today! We are a lot alike and yet take a very different approach to getting the perfect shot. We should- we have two very different cameras! lol But there was one subject that caught our fancy- or at least our attention- this little Inch Worm who was dangling in the breeze until I settled him onto this leaf. Every time I see one of these I think of the movie Hans Christian Anderson starring Danny Kaye as the children's author. One scene has Hans contemplating on the determined little worm:
Inch worm, Inch worm,
Measuring the marigolds,
Seems to me you'd stop and see how beautiful they are.
We walked along the trail today and had no problem stopping to see the beauty around us. My first 365 meet-up was all I'd hoped it to be and more!
Thank you so much for all your faithful comments while my world is still topsy-turvy. Jeff and I are discovering that Siberian Larch does not act or react the same as other wood floors (typically oak and pine). It's still drying and everything in my home is still in piles! Add to that an unusually busy stream of activities for me and I'm WAY behind on 365! But I so appreciate your faithfulness and words cannot express the depth!
@maggiemae Oh thank you so much for posting that link! I have the movie in video form but haven't been able to view it since the VHS player died years ago! So sweet to hear that again!
@nadaa lol I knew you would. How many did I take of this guy? 15 or so? Only 1 came out- this one!
@anazad511 Yes Ana it was and we had such a wonderful time! If your travels ever bring you to northeastern Pennsylvania, you let us know- we'd love to show you around PA and NJ!
@anazad511 Oh how fun!! I am near the Delaware Water Gap- the closet "city" is Stroudsburg. But I am not far away from Nada who is in northern NJ. Philadelphia and NYC are further away but not impossible (1- 1 1/2 hours). I am also quite close to the point where NY, NJ and PA all touch corners. That gives you a general idea. My exact location is Middle Smithfield, but it's probably easier to find Stroudsburg, Bushkill or Milford on a map. I am close to all of them as the crow flies!
@olivetreeann - Thanks for all the data. I just looked it on the map, and we will be "only" 163 miles away... LOL. The house is in Margate City on the Jersey Shore. There are plenty of exciting locations half way to get together. That would be so much fun! Look forward to it.
@anazad511 The Jersey shore is lovely- and I can completely be convinced to meet you there for a day!! lol I grew up in NJ and love the Jersey shore. What dates are you going to be there? The only glitch for me will be the arrival of grandchild #5 who is due July 7th- but only God knows the actual day!
@olivetreeann - No rush Ann, since I will probably there for a couple of months at least. I'm leaving Monday on a very exciting trip to Spain and Israel, which is delaying my "move" to the Jersey Shore. We are leading a group, but first will be in Barcelona for a few days before meeting them in Madrid. Together we will travel to Israel. The best part is that I will spend 4 full days by myself in Jerusalem :) We have shared before how much we love that city. If you have any suggestions for something special to do, don't hesitate to tell me. I'm hoping to do all these with God's help to my health :)
@anazad511 Sounds wonderful! I wish I could go on that trip with you- I have a dear friend in Catalan (not sure if that's how you spell it) who so wants me to come visit. I keep telling him, just send the money and I'll be there!! And yes, Jerusalem! Once you've been there you always want to go back. For me it is always powerful and moving to pray at the wall. It is also exciting to go watch the Sabbath being welcomed in there. I love shopping at Shorashim in the Old City and if you want an interesting "trip" through the history of Jerusalem, The Time Elevator (37 Hillel St. Beit Agron) is really fun but informative. If I ever get back there, I'd love to go see the Chagall windows at Hadassah Hospital and of course Yad VaShem is both amazing and awe-inspiring. As for architecture, Galicantu, Church of All Nations and Dominus Flavius are all beautiful and the Church of the Holy Sepulchure, though massive and disjointed, has the Orthodox altar built over Golgotha. The Anglicans have the beautiful Garden Tomb (but it's not the correct site of the crucifixion and resurrection). On my first trip I "walked the wall" which was really fun and have some beautiful overlooks of the city from within the city. And it's also interesting to walk through Hezekiah's tunnel if you're not claustrophobic. If you do that though, make sure you don't have to dry your clothes right away and wear water shoes on your feet. The water can get up to mid-thigh or a bit higher. It's a little chilly and bring a flashlight. But it's an awesome experience to think you are walking in a place that was dug by hand! I know you're a pretty savvy traveler so you'll have no trouble finding photo opps or things to do! Have a wonderful trip- and when you have settled in Jersey, email me at Olivetreeann@yahoo.com and then we can plan a get together!
Nice shot, Ann! Love the different hues of green. Even the inch worm has is a different color green then everything around him. Great detail and a good catch on the little creeper crawler. Me, I wouldn't have touched him. I am so not a bug person! Nice job, Ann! :)
@eudora Thank you Diane! @prttblues Thank you Bev! Fortunately I did not have to touch him, I just guided his silky thread to the nearest leaf- and then took pictures! lol
