Before we headed home, Debbie and I took a quick tour of the sculptures on display in Killington, Vermont. The Hay Festival is a fall fixture in this neck of the woods and as you can see there is quite a variety of sculptures to see. Hopefully you can get the sense of their size by comparing them to the vehicles in the background.
@cimes1 Thank you Carole! Neither did I, so it was a fun thing to see. @salza Thanks Sally- yes, all made with bales of hay- BIG bales of hay! @bkbinthecity Thanks Brian! Yes, it was fun to drive along and see them. And for most of them I didn't really have to get out of the car. @taffy Thanks Taffy! @tuya Thank you Claire! @yaorenliu Thanks Yao! @digitalrn Thanks Rick! Yes very creative! @eudora Thank you Diane! It was fun.
Great shots, Ann! Love the collage! The turtle, pumpkin man and the pink panther are new ones! They weren't there last year! Great job on catching these! I'm so glad that you detoured on your way home. Great job! :)
@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! Some of them were so tall! @sangwann Thanks Dione! We did enjoy driving around to see them and were glad we did it. @prttblues Thanks Bev! Another great tip from you! Before the Gorge we spent a lot of time wandering around the shops (Debbie loves to window shop!) and then we walked about the Gorge after taking pictures from the bridge. By the time we left the covered bridge and then headed down the highway, we were pretty late. The directions from MapQuest didn't quite match up with the actual roads (first time that ever happened to me although I've heard of it happening to others) but we made it to Rutland for dinner and then I knew where we were so I could get us home. But after dinner, we both decided we'd be better off staying one more night! So, we found an inexpensive motel on Rt. 4 and that's how we ended up having the next morning to go see the Hay Festival.
@bruni Thank you Bruni! And there were more- I didn't post all of them and I didn't stop to take a picture of all of them either. It seems they are a big hit here.
@olivetreeann That's so great you made it to the hay festival! I didn't make it and I'm sure they've gone by now. I was in major agony for days after our excursion, but it so worth the pain to be able to spend it with you and Debbie. I had a blast and I'd do it again! I like seeing a few new additions in this collage you did! And I'm SO glad that you made it there!! :)
@prttblues I'm so sorry you were hurting after our excursion! But really, you were an excellent guide!! We had a great time too. Maybe some day you'll be able to make it to our neck of the woods and it will be our turn to show you around!
Yes, very fun and playful mood coming through all the wonderful shots in this amazing collage! Too bad we don't have anything like that here. :( Sounds like you had a fun day. :)
@gratefulness Thank you Sandi! We had fun driving around to see them- but we must have looked a little crazy going in and out of all the parking lots to get their pictures!
@salza Thanks Sally- yes, all made with bales of hay- BIG bales of hay!
