Next month my camera club will be hosting a holiday party for all the members. Part of the festivities will include a competition in which we have been asked to display 12 photos (one for each month) in collage format. The members will then vote on their favorite and a prize will be awarded. I don't know what the prize is, but I've picked out my shots and will get them printed up this week. The shots begin with January in the upper left hand corner and end with December in the lower right. Of course that shot came from 2012, but I don't think I'll really have enough time to pull off a December shot before the meeting. If I do, I'll exchange it. I'm also starting to think that May's flower shot should be a color one. I really hate picking out pictures! I constantly second guessing myself! I'm still not even sure how I will display them but what do you think of my choices?
I love each shot individually but together they create a wonderful quilt of texture ,color details of your year.It is put together very thoughtfully.Id say it is a winner!
Good choices. They reflect variety of style and technique, balancing color and bw shots, and include both realistic and abstract. You have some wonderful color flower shots, but this bw one is very effective with its emphasis on form.
all are well chosen, ann. but while i do agree that the flower should be in colour, this particular one has more appeal to me in black and white (horrors! and i no like black and white that much). always trust your instinct, that's the true artist speaking to you.
Thank you Katie! Thank you Taffy! I really appreciate the feedback especially on the flower. I have to keep reminding myself that the edited versions are not in the collage and that the bottom row actually has a lot more color than appears here. So, I'll keep the gardenia after all.
@summerfield Thanks Vikki! I keep forgetting that this collage is made with the unedited versions of these shots. The rust and barn window shots actually have bolder colors in the edited version. So the gardenia stays.
That would be an awesome project to do. Your's turned out fabulous! But, I can see why that would be hard. I take hundreds of pictures each month, so it would be hard to narrow that down to just one!
@homeschoolmom Thanks Lisa- believe me it was hard!! So the first thing I did was use my 365 project to narrow it down. If I didn't post it, I didn't consider it. And then I used my main album first and only when I really didn't like anything from the month did I pop over to my second album. That really helped to limit the photos I could choose from but I still had quite a few to narrow down to 12!
I like this. You have so many great pictures I can't imagine trying to choose 12. We should do this for
365 ! I've never run a contest. What do you think ?
This is a wonderful idea for the December photo club meeting. I will suggest this to the photo club, for next year. Great photos for your collage. I also have difficulties selecting photos for my photo club.
@traceyhn I think it's a great idea Tracey! Go for it! You can even use this title if you'd like.
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie! I had that in the back of my mind while choosing them but basically stuck to my favorites while trying to balance the black and white with sepia and color. @kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @sarasdadandmom Thanks Terry- I was hoping for that. @twr Thank you Timothy! @salza Thanks Sally! Yes, for me it is- I started out with a list of about 20 and then pared it down to these. @cimes1 Thanks Carole! I don't know- there are some pretty good photographers in this club. At this point it's enough for me to just get up the nerve to enter! @sangwann Thanks Dione! Yes, all of these shots have appeared on 365- mostly in my main album but a few from my themes and competitions album. You have an excellent memory! @digitalrn Thanks Rick! I'll be up against some tough competition and no one really knows me yet, but this is a good experience! @henrir Thank you Henri! I had a tough time figuring out which ones best illustrated my "style" (if you could call it that!). I appreciate your feedback. @simster Thanks Simmy! @jesperani Thanks Jennifer! @daisy Thanks Kathryn! I think the gal who is secretary of the club is the one who came up with it. I thought it was a great idea until I had to pick out the pictures- lol! But I got them all printed out today and will now figure out how I want to display them.

Thank you Nicole!
Thank you Diane!
Tough to decide but now that that's done, I've got to arrange them on the poster board!
