Raymondskill Falls by olivetreeann

Raymondskill Falls

My photo club went on another "shoot-out" today. This time we headed over to one of Pennsylvania's premier waterfalls, Raymondskill Falls. They are impressively tall- only two feet shorter than Niagara. But as you can see, a lot less water falls over them!

This shot was made possible by Vikki Summerfield who has graciously loaned me her Canon Rebel T3i so I can try it out and see if this is the direction I shall go when I upgrade. My goodness- what a huge difference! My little Canon Powershot fits in my hand. The Rebel is definitely a two-hander for me! Thanks to a fellow club member I was able to set the camera up properly so I could capture some silky water. But now it's up to me to learn what this camera and I can do together. Let the learning begin.

Commenting on this is optional- I am back filling a ton of dates I missed posting recently.
Beautiful shot

Lovely shot, Ann. I personally like my Canon PowerShot. I don't want a bigger camera that will require interchangeable lenses. Plus I can't lift much so I am sticking with what I have but everyone has their own personal favorites. The shot came out really good.

Looks to be a wonderful place to visit. Waterfalls are so peaceful. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with using the new toy. The size and weight is definitely something one has to adjust to but I found it was quite easy.

@prttblues Thanks Bev! Your camera is perfect for you but it's also much better than my little Powershot. This is a loaner but I'm going to enjoy the versatility and broader range of shots I can take with it. I will no longer be limited to macro!

@susale @nicolecampbell @salza @digitalrn @vesna0210 @altadc @daisymiller

Thank you so much everyone. I have a lot to learn and you will be encouraging me all the way- because you're really good at that!

@digitalrn We had tried to do a Fall get-together and if you still are interested this will be stunning when the colors turn. Keep it in mind!

@olivetreeann You'll have to bring it up here and you can play with it on my mountain - or my other one I go to sometimes or maybe go up to Lake Champlain. Enjoy using it! It was nice of her to lend it to you. I dropped mine the other day - I thought the strap was around my neck when I stood up from my kitchen chair after taking the shot of the CDs and apparently I was wrong. It hit the floor. Not a far drop but a bad enough one - or so I thought. I thought I'd broken it but it still works great because the dragonfly I shot yesterday was a zoomed in one with macro set, too! :) .... Ooooh! You should see if you can shoot the moon! I bet you can :)
