Little by little and day by day the Adventurers learned about their new home- the state of Pennsylvania and its place in the United States of America. They learned that:
* Hershey, Pennsylvania is the called the Chocolate Capitol of the United States. Piggy thought we should visit it ASAP!
* Pennsylvania is the only original colony that is not bordered by the Atlantic Ocean.
* On February 2nd every year the residents of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania stand around and wait to see if a ground hog sees it shadow. This indicates to them how many weeks are left in winter. Willie thought this was a rather silly tradition.
* Philadelphia Pennsylvania was the capitol of the United States until 1800 when Washington D. C. was established as the capitol.
* Pennsylvania is a little over 46,000 square miles in size- #33 in rank compared to the other states. That's a lot of land to explore!
But the greatest discovery they made happened one day when they were poking around the kitchen.
"Mooooooo, look what I found!" exclaimed Willie, "Chocolates!"
The explorers had uncovered the box of chocolates that M. Summerfield gave to Miss Ann when they met up at Niagara Falls. Oops! It looks like Miss Ann won't be enjoying that chocolate anymore. Maybe we WILL need to visit Hershey soon!
Tomorrow- one last post from the Adventurers who have been challenged by Dave and Marybeth to do the ice-bucket challenge. We are hoping for a VERY HOT day!
@summerfield Thank you Vikk! Absolutely deee-lish!! @skstein Thank you Sandy! I have done that with many of the pictures of my grandchildren. They really get a kick out of a book about themselves! @alia_801 Thank you Alia! hehe cute comment! @vesna0210 Thanks Vesna!
@summerfield I was totally selfish! It was just too good to share with someone who wouldn't really appreciate that it was Godiva chocolate. My son and his wife brought us Gihardelli (I probably spelled that wrong) once and he said, "I really don't taste that much of a difference between this and a Hershey bar. What's the big fuss about chocolate anyway?" I suppose if he'd found them hidden in the back of the cabinet where I keep the pasta and canned goods (you can stop giggling now) I would have shared them.
Great shot and processing, Ann! I have been to Hershey (went to a wedding there). I love how the streetlights look like Hershey's Kisses. I also went to the amusement park and did the riding tour of the factory (yes, I played tourist ... lol)
@skstein Thank you for the fav Sandy! @prttblues Thanks Bev! I have no problem with people playing tourist- as long as they move out of the way when I want to take a picture!!! hehehe @dibzgreasley Thank you Debs and thank you so much for the fav!
