We went down to North Brunswick, NJ on Saturday evening to see our niece Katie perform in Spamalot. She loved playing this part and you could tell. Here she is in one of the ensemble pieces having a moment in the spotlight.
Thank you Lisa, Vikki, Kerri, Sally, SC, Anita, Joan, Nicole, Carole, Myrna, Pam, Nicole, Joyce, Pyrrhula, Hazel and Julia!
Yes, Katie is a beautiful young woman and she is about to graduate from college with a major in theater and vocal training. Hopefully this summer she'll be building equity points so that in the Fall she'll be able to go to auditions in the city. She definitely has "it" and we hope she'll continue to pursue her dreams. It's a tough business to break into, but so far she's gotten some good attention from her professors who have ties in Broadway and from the directors she's worked for. I'm going to print this out for her so she can enjoy all your comments.
As for me, I'm never sure I'm going to get good shots during a production. First I'll tentatively try a few where I figure out what I should have the camera set at, and then I put it on P (what I call autopilot) set the ISO and let the camera do the rest! But I was really pleased with the ones I took of this production. So thanks for the positive feedback!
@juliac Spamalot was conceived and written by two of the performers in Monty Python's Flying Circus- an off-beat and satiric comedy troupe from Great Britain. They have been around for a long time! Although I believe some of the original members have passed on. In the late 70's they came out with a movie which poked fun at Camelot, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table (Monty Python and the Holy Grail). I'm not sure when the musical first came out, but it's based on the movie and contains lots of fun-poking at Broadway itself. Some of their stuff is definitely not my cup of tea- but Katie is very special to us, so during those parts, I just focus on her! You could probably find clips of it on YouTube.
@prttblues Thanks Bev! She was visiting today so I was able to show her all the pictures from the night. Now I have to remember to send her them in an email!
