A rather large spider has made a web by my sliding glass doors every night this summer. Since he/she's not in the way, I leave her alone. By the morning he/she has sought cover elsewhere, but the web stays as a testimony to his/her nightly work. I've been trying to figure out a way to photograph the web, but it virtually disappears when I try to shoot straight on. This morning I caught a glimpse of it from the side and behind and realized that was the way to capture it. I didn't know if I'd be able to focus on it clearly enough but was really pleased to see how it came out. I love how the close-up of the strands of the web has completely blurred the neighbor's house and turned it into an abstract bokeh. Although I am not a big fan of spiders, I am totally amazed by their webs. How do these gossamer threads withstand the weight of the spider and the stress of the bugs that get caught in it? I don't know but they are absolutely beautiful!
You just stepped up a notch in my opinion! Especially since you don't like spiders but you leave the web there! They aren't easy to capture and you have done a magnificent job of it!
Beautifully captured! I'm amazed at the strength of spider webs. They appear between the spindles on our porch railings, and squirting them with the hose doesn't often remove them!
The spider is always so busy creating webs of silk! I've found to focus on the web strands, focus first on something the same distance away then swing round and press the shutter fully down without really seeing what you have got.
