I saw a new challenge posted the other day and at first I thought, "No- there's really nothing in those first months on 365 that I want to go back and do again." Then I was sort of intrigued- could I just point blank say there was nothing? So I went back to look at those early photos and actually there was not a lot I could replicate- they were very time specific- except one.
There's not much you can improve upon when you're confessing you're too lazy to wash the dishes right after you use them, but that is the case with both shots! In the former version I was using my original "little point and shoot" (the Canon Powershot A560) which is no longer in use. But that in essence is one of the improvements to this version. The Canon T3i and its Tamron lens allow me to shift the focus to whatever part of the picture I want as opposed to the fixed focus of the former. So for the re-do I focused on the dishes on the countertop and that's about the only change I've made- well except for the fact that it's totally different dishes!
@pandorasecho Thank you Dixie! Different day- different dishes! @golftragic Thanks Marnie! This one is my morning tea cup- I have another for the evening tea. Oh yes, I have quite a collection of them! And the mug in the first shot is the one I love for hot chocolate.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Thanks Jackie! The former is not bad for a point and shoot- but this one is definitely better. @onewing Thank you Babs! I had actually been using a different mug for a while. A lovely one done by a potter near my son's home in Batavia. But the handle inexplicably broke one day! So I went back to using this one. @joansmor Thanks Joan! Well, then, when you visit again we shall find some Pocono mugs for you! @henrir Thank you Henri! @fbailey Thank you Felicity! Don't be embarrassed by them. They are only proof that as the years go by we improve our skills (and sometimes our equipment) and ability to compose a shot. I look at it as how much I've grown as a photographer thanks to this site. Your improved shot said the same! @grammyn Thank you Katy! @wendyfrost Thank you Wendy!
@golftragic LOL When Jeff tries to use them for something other than tea- I tell him to change the mug- especially when it's coffee. I think I can taste it afterwards even when I've washed the mug! Yup- crazy!
@stephomy Thank you Stephomy and thank you so much for including this in the vote- wow- the other choices were so impressive. I really liked this "challenge" and was surprised to see how much I've grown as a photographer thanks to this site!
