Our church organist gave a concert this afternoon and what you see here was a very surprising aspect of it. Thanks to the wonders of technology, our church organ was connected to a program via Jonathan's home computer which gave our organ (an Allen organ) the ability to sound like a Baroque organ ( Azzio) and a more classical organ (Walcker). To make things even more "cool" whatever Jonathan played on our organ (for example the foot peddles) the computer on the screen did the same.
The organ alone looks like a complicated piece of technology and to do the things that you said happened with it must have made an amazing concert! Fabulous photo of the set up.
Thank you all- it really was quite amazing and had you not seen the computer screen there- or even had been told by the organist, you would never have known. The sounds were coming from our organ, but the settings were all computerized.
I like organ music a lot and I like the atmosphere of old churches where it is performed. But where there are no such possibilities, technology and human creativity come to the rescue.
@haskar Thank you Haskar! Our organ does have a nice sound but this was a way of expanding that sound. The organist just used it for this concert. He said it was not really that easy to play an organ "through" the computer, so he wouldn't be doing it on a regular basis.
