Because of the shifting sands I think the shacks have to be dug out every so often.
Of course, there is no electricity and some of the shacks have solar panels and generators for electricity, their water is supplied by bore water from underground.
I have just read the link, thanks Babs. I did not know of their existence , really fascinating story, just goes to show you don't need a Mc Mansion to be happy. Wonderful collage.:-)
@888rachel Did you see the sign when you were going four wheel driving? You can go on tours up to Tin city but a group of us parked on Nelson Bay Road and just walked down the track through the bush down to the dunes and then climbed over the dunes to Tin City, it was about 5 or 6 km each way and quite a hike. up and down the dunes. We each had a bunch of twigs and branches and stuck them in the ground at intervals so we could follow our trail back again.
@karlow75@elaine55@kathiecb Glad you found the link interesting. I am not sure they are all friendly either. Some have rather large dogs barking on their premises. I have another collage of Tin City which I may put in this Port Stephens album before the end of the month.
Next month will be a different subject here. Not sure what though yet.
