A visit to the emergency vet today for Finlay who has had really bad upset tummy for days now. Very poorly in the night so I decided I couldn’t wait until Monday to see his own vet. £189 and two injections later - antibiotic and a pain killer - plus he needs to go to his own vet tomorrow to get a course of antibiotic tablets. I really don’t mind what I pay to get him better but the charges the vets make are really over the top! They wanted £15 just for a signature on the insurance claim form. I would also need another claim form from my own vet and another signature! I told them to leave it as I just could not face giving the vets even more money! Emotional blackmail I think it’s called! Grrrrrr!

Getting behind with my project with so many gaps! I am also behind in commenting on your images for which I apologise. Life just getting in the way at the moment!
Poor little guy...and poor you also! We just went through a round of tests with Tigger before we left...$500+, but you just can't take chances! Each test came back negative, and the vet said he was "just feeling punk"... OK, I get it...it's happened to me as well. And now Ashley went through the same thing with of of their cats... They do know how to worry us! Hoping he's 100% again soon!
Oh Pam, what a drama for you and poor little Finlay. I do hope he's on the improve now and all under control. As for vet's fees, I couldn't agree more. I spent a fortune on Sheba who went to the Great Dog Kennel aged 17, so when we got Maggie I got pet insurance while she was young enough to be eligible. So far it's mostly the insurance company that's benefited, but I'm reassured to know that if there's a major drama I won't be thousands out of pocket as I was with Sheba. Of course, I totally agree with you about paying whatever's needed whenever it's needed!!
A sweet capture. Ah...poor Finlay! I hope he feels better very soon! Yes, emotional blackmail and they overcharge!!! But, when its your friend, companion and animal we do what we must!
@golftragic I have always had Finlay insured and now George also. All my vets visits over years the cost has always been just around the excess figure so have never claimed from the insurance. This time I could claim although I would still have to pay the excess so would be lucky to even get half back. It had been an awful night with Finlay and I was really worried about him. When the girl said £15 for a signature and I would need another from my own vet I just saw red! I told her to stick it! I wouldn’t bother claiming. Silly really I know but I think it was the final straw ! On a brighter note he seems a lot better this morning and he slept all night! Off to our vets now!
Oh dear, poor Finlay and poor you! I hope (for both your sakes) that he's better soon. This is a lovely shot - he knows how to pose for your camera doesn't he!
@pamknowler Fully understood Pam, when you're stressed outta your brains about your dog and at your limit it doesn't take much to push one over the edge. I'd've lost the plot too!!! As you say, the final straw. Good to hear he's better this morning, hanging out to hear what your vet says. Sending hugs.
Oh dear, poor Finlay! I hope he feels better soon. Don't give keeping up a thought. The one thing we have going for us is after years of 365 we can truly come and go as life allows. We aren't going to lose the habit of photography!
