The aurora borealis is caused by solar particles that are flung from the sun toward the Earth by an explosion of energy on the sun's surface called a coronal mass ejection. Tonight was fantastic as I captured myself + my better half standing on the dock of the cottage.

This is magical, Peter! I have seen the northern lights many times when living in Alaska but have never tried to photograph them. Having you two in the foreground on the dock is the perfect touch to this delightful photo!
