This is the back entrance to the John Lewis department store in Nottingham.
I was off work today and we went for some lunch in Nottingham.
John Lewis is my favourite store in the city, it has an excellent 'geek department'...televisions, audio, pc's, photogrpahy etc., so I like to visit it to browse the latest gadgets.
I tried to frame the picture between the two 'Belisha Beacons', which add a splash of colour to a grey day (we are having a lot of those in the UK at the moment).
Anyway this is another picture falls into the street photography genre. Hope you like it.
For overseas viewers:
A 'Belisha Beacon' is an amber-coloured globe lamp on top of a tall black and white pole, marking the pedestrian crossings of roads in the United Kingdom
'John Lewis' Is a UK department store renowned for it's excellent Customer Services and guarantees to price match any other retailer on on prices.
I wish the aqua pants and light blue sweater person had been in front. Great outfit and adds interest to this shot. Sounds like a fun day and a great store.
@allie912 Allison , thanks for your comments, I try to give a bit of background to the images because like you say it does add to the image. Thanks again
@seattle Constance, thanks for your comments. It was more a 'grab shot' rather than a composed image. It had just started raining so I did not want to get too wet. It's not cool for some people to either wear a coat or carry an umbrella in the UK when it rains !
@gill John Lewis ...'Never knowingly under sold' ..... I never noticed the yellow image in the window. I did think of doing an even close crop, by having the beacons right on the edge of the image and therfore losing the guy in white pumps and the yellow smiley image in the window (glad I didn't now you've pointed it out). Thanks :)
