I finish work early on a Friday and we went to a garden centre near to our house to buy some plants for spring flowering.
The garden centre we went to has a 'show garden' showcasing the skills of a local landscape gardening firm. However, the firm does not advertise at the garden centre anymore and the showpiece garden has become neglected and overgrown.
This image shows how the garden has become neglected. A quite tranquil corner with a stone bench has become somewhat overgrown. Ivy and weeds run amock, the block paving has moss growing between the cracks and the stone bench is turning green .
It looks quite sad. I was going to make the image black and white, but then it would lose the green on the stone and trellis, so I've left it as it was.
The garden centre ought to maintain this display area themselves or offer it to anyone willing to take care of it. It is certainly not doing them any good as it is. (Although you did manage to get a picture with great character. )
@allie912 Allison, thank you for your comments, it's a good idea of yours to let someone else take care of it. We were shocked to see it so neglected. I think the 'credit crunch' (that's what we call the financial recession in the UK) is taking it's toll on quite a few small to medium sized businesses and the garden centre seems to be struggling financially
@gill Gill, thank you very much for your comments, It is hard to capture the neglect, but it's useful that we can write some narrative about the picture so people can view it in context. Thanks again.
