I went to watch my football (soccer) team - Bolton Wanderers - on Saturday.
This shot is outside the Reebok stadium about 15 minutes before kick off.
The image shows entrance C, gates 1, 2, 3 and 4 and a few late arrivals 'wandering' outside the Reebok Stadium.
Notice how the first 'r' in Wanderers has fallen away slightly...a bit like our season, after a promising start and mid season, we have fallen away rather dramatically into mediocrity as the season enters the last two weeks !!
As for the game ..a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Sunderland, making the 120+ miles drive back home a rather long journey :(
SOOC, but a tiny crop to remove some supporters who were only half in the frame !
I'm glad the season is nearly over, but I'll be back there when the season restarts in August 2011 (full of optimism and hoping that we may win something) !!!
What the heck??? Is everyone really skinny in the UK? What size doors are A, B, C and D?? Wait, I think that one dude is slipping in sideways. Sorry your Wanderers didn't have a better season but, you're right, there's always next season!
@meredithwb Thank you...the turnstiles do like quite small in the picture although I've seen some big Bolton supporters in the stadium :) so they may need to do a sideways shuffle to get in :)
Phil, I love your analogy between the tipsy r and your tipping season. Cheering on a team is like being a teacher. There is always enthusiasm for a new season!
Ha ha the sign is wandering! I love the late comers and all that lovely blue! Did you see Lord Sugar's analysis of what is wrong with the beautiful game? It was very interesting. Sorry the season had not been the best for the trotters (do people really call them that?) but as you say there is always the next one!
A piece of British culture for sure. My Dad always did the pools and no matter what the results were on our tv on Saturday so he could check them. lol.
@andycoleborn ooooh ouch Andy!! lol So Phil, who are you supporting on Sat or are you still licking your wounds? I've got 2 Man Utd season ticket holders about the place and they are a bit too smug for my liking!! lol This picture reminds me of outside Ipswich Town if you're late for the game!
@allie912 thanks Allison, football fans are always full of enthusiasm , I think we are always a but blind to the facts we let our heart rule our heads :)
The press refer to us as 'The Trotters', rival supporters are less kind with their words !
The season was looking really good until the cup semi final defeat , it's all gone wrong since then .
