Another photo shoot on the path at the side of our house. I was trying to make use of the low evening sun, which was casting long shadows through the wrought iron gate and onto the path.
I was surprised to see two wrens arrive on the path.....OK I confess...they weren't real wrens. They were just some little 'metal ones' that we bought last weekend at the BBC food and garden show.
My efforts to get all arty were hampered (or perhaps improved) by my little assistant Ruby, who insisted on getting in on every shot ! Here she is having a 'sniff ' at the models and trying to adjust the angle of the birds !!
I think the 'whippet nose' actually adds to the image, which is SOOC.
I confessed to the wife today that my assistant, while adjusting the birds, nudged one them over and broke her beak !!! I was worried I'd get the blame for bad supervision, but hey the little whippet can do no wrong in our house :)
Anway SOOC (not even any B/W conversion), shot into the light, shot from a low angle to emphasise shadows, All arty and 'contre jour'
As soon as I saw these they reminded me of those plastic hens you used to push down & they would lay an egg, do you remember them ? Great shadows & texture of cobbles ! Good old Ruby sounds like she gets away with murder !!
It is very arty and I love it. I would not have guessed they were artificial birds... The whole shot with Ruby is just great. Loved your story too. Well done Phil.
...great shot Phil. Like this a lot. The patterns and shadows are very good.
I, however didn't think they were wrens - too big, and then i read your words..
I do like!! Love that light and Ruby's nose (even if it's a bit too close to some things!!). I was actually thinking 'Too big for wrens - must be blackbirds' - varifocals letting me down!!!!
It's getting late , so I better do a 'group reply'. Thanks to everyone for the comments. I always appreciate the feedback and words on my images. I really look forward to reading your comments. Thanks again EVERYONE :)
LOL - I must admit lots of thoughts ran through my mind here Phil - wow those birds look like they've got comedy feet...wow those birds better hurry, it looks like a snout is gunna scoot them! great B7W - love the shadows and lighting - nicely captured
