Blackberries by phil_howcroft

Blackberries

On Sunday we went blackberry picking. I forgot to take my camera with me....fool....the location where we picked the blackberries was very photogenic........sweeping hills alongside a bridleway.

So rather than a sweeping landscape you are left with a shot of the blackberries on our window ledge just before they are about to be cooked (well gently simmered in water and sugar) to make the filling for blackberry and apple crumbles (served with piping hot custard !)

I think the reflected light from the window is a bit distracting in places but I upped the saturation a tad and toned down the highlights to make the scene more appealing.

They were rather delicious (I must add) !
I bet you kicked yourself all day for forgetting your camera !! These look delicious & about the only thing you can get free in this life !!! I love the red parts as they give this photo a variation !!

No camera while blackberrying - tsk!! I've got lots of rubbish blackberry pics - these washed ones are much more attractive. It's my job for the weekend - bramble jelly on the menu - I made it last year & it was gorgeous. Our bumper place has been hacked down by those machine cutters so now I'm not sure where we're going to get enough. I've bought a special sieve from Lakeland though so I've got to find them!

@sarahhorsfall sarah we got a great crop, but the berries did not seem quite as 'full' as last year, maybe we went a bit too late to get the best ones :)

looking good Phil - ours are all shrivelled and died now - should've picked them a couple of weeks ago! Still I have a freezer full for making the obligatory apple and Blackberry pie - of COURSE with custard!!
