We went to Lincoln Christmas Market today. It's less than an hour's drive to Lincoln from our house so we got their for 10.00 am when the market opened.
We were going to Park and Ride, but when i checked the prices online it was £15-00 per car ...£15-00 that's outrageous. We parked in a car park by the university which cost us only £5-00 (close to where this shot was done) !!
Anyway this is Lincoln Cathedral, perched on top of hill overlooking the city centre. Converted to B/W to make it more atmospheric.
The market is in and around the cathedral / castle area .....as for the market......well if you wanted to buy some fudge, cheese, mulled wine or eat a German sausage your were sorted !!! It wasn't the best of experiences ..even at 10.30 am the market was rammed, it was quite difficult to get near to the stalls. The prices were a tad expensive !
By midday it was so rammed it was (in my opinion) dangerous.
Anyway by midday we made our way down to the waterfront cafes and restaurants and had some lunch.
The day out was good, the market a little disappointing. I was disappointed with the photo opportunities too as it was a fairly grey day and the market area too busy to get any candid shots.
Wow! I love this shot. It builds from the bottom, a bit like how a song starts off quiet and then soars, so too this picture. That cathedral looks awesome.
Wow this is spectacular, Phil. Great framing of this photo. I think the day was a photo success judging by this one wonderful shot. Well done. Now for the market, I would have gone too for the experience, however I am with you on the crowds.
A wonderful stepping of roofs culminating in the Cathedral.. dramatic !! I think cathedrals are amazing & always so dominant on the sky line !! you did well Phil & I like the black & white ...a fave !
This is a stunning shot of Lincoln Catherdral Phil - loving the layering of the houses below and the dwarfed chruch in the middle! Excellent in B&W too. Big thumbs up from me!
.. parking rip-off and over pricing a captive audience is an unfortunate shame..
..the light - you have no-one to blame for the light!
