A Saturday In Nottingham 1 : Protest

We were in Nottingham today and we saw a protest by local trade unions and activists against the public sector cuts imposed by the government.

This is a shot captured as the protest 'congregated' outside the meeting place - the Nottingham Congregational Hall.

I tried not to show people in the shot , just the contrast of the banners against a rather majestic set of Nottingham buildings.

I'm not trying to make any political statement with this image. It is just something I stumbled on as we walked through the city. I'm sure you are all capable of making your own judgements on the sate of our country and economy based on your own experiences (good or bad)

It's football tomorrow ......a big match at the Reebok, if I was an 'old school footballer' I'd wear the number 3 or 11 shirt !

Cool capture

It's a great capture, Phil! I do love those old buildings! They are very beautiful with such nice details!

This is great Phil. There's a lot of movement in those banners and showing them against the stable building makes its own statement. Well done

Yes the contrast between the solid brick and the fluttering flags is very striking. I guess these demonstrations are taking place all over the world as different groups try to make their positions known.

Subtle contrast of the solid Victorian buildings and the comments of a restless society on the move.

I like your square crop here - it's a bit like a banner in its own right.
