Horse's muddy feet

Horse Hooves (or is it hoofs), I always get mixed up with hooves and hoofs

Spotted on a Bank Holiday morning walk (circa 5 miles) before the rain came

These horses are live in this muddy field. Surely it cannot do there feet any good. Maybe I'm being over sensitive (a city boy commenting on country life), but it does not seem quite right for them standing in a muddy field all day and all night !
Great shot

I don't know what the plural for hoofs are either !!! LOL who cares !!!! Not good to be standing in mud like that either you are right I think it causes something like Laminitis . My eldest son in NZ trained as a cattle chiropodist in Holland & cows used to get sore feet if they stood around in slurry too much.

It is hooves. Great texture and tones, Phil! I hope you weren't standing in it to get this shot! Horses will develop navicular problems if they have to stand in mud continuously. Hope this is not the case for this one!

No, they shouldn't be having to stand in such muddy conditions, I feel quite upset to think of it.

I read a chick lit novel that involved a horse with laminitis from damp ground - its terribly painful & can kill them. Not exactly a textbook but probably properly researched!!

looks a tad wet and not very comfortable. Hope their owner gets them to some drier ground soon

Great shot of these hooves Phil... a little mud never hurt anyone...as long as it's not continuous.

I am no horse expert but i know hikers and army personnel must be careful to keep their feet dry or suffer the consequences. You shouldn't be allowed to own animals if you won't commit to caring for them properly.
