Bluebells on Sunday (better than watching the football)

This was Sunday, I took some photos of a few bluebell buds in my garden.

I did this rather than listening to the football (my team were close to being relegated from the Premiership).

My mate a Baggies sent me a text message a 3 o'clock saying good luck hope you stay up !!!

I sent a text message back saying I'm not listening to the radio or watching TV, I'll put the TV on at five O'clock to see if we are down !!!!

I went into the garden to take some pictures...

At 4 o'clock (half time) , he sent me a text message. 'you are winning 2-1, QPR are losing, you are staying up' ............fool, I did not want to know...after that I was stressed ...and ended up listening / watching to Sky Sports News....the rest they say is history...within 5 minutes the scores meant we were not staying up ..and I spent another 20 minutes getting depressed !!!

Why did he text me, would it have made a difference if he hadn't?

The picture...a tad too soft...I think I need a prime lens for my DSLR.

Oh and odn't you think bluebells should be spelt bluebelles....bluebelles sounds far more exotic and appreciative of these wonderful spring flowers

Gorgeous DoF, very pretty :)

You have a new camera !!!! This is a great start with your DSLR Phil, the focus is perfect with lots of DOF ! Very exciting I keep thinking should I invest but think can I cope with the mechanics !!!
Yes you were doing OK at the football just that your result relied too much on what other clubs were doing !!! Sounds a stressful afternoon !!!

@happypat thanks Pat, I've always had a DSLR, I don't use it that often as it's a bit of a lump to carry around.....I got it in the summer of 2008 !!

But belle is another word for beautiful young woman, as in "belle of the ball." There were belles and beaus at one time. Sad to say those sort of names and times are dead and gone. Like my old west. LOL! Lovely shot, Phil! Your focus is sharpest on the cluster to the far left corner. I like the light and your soft background, too!

Really beautiful shot, Phil. Difficult to believe what you were going through when you took it! Sorry about the football result, don't dwell on it, just take more shots like this! And there's always next season . . .

Yes, bluebelles are like belles of the ball, and these certainly would be the center of attention at any soiree. Sorry yor team disappointed you yet again. That happened to me with Atlanta Braves baseball team and I said, "Never again." It took a year to wean myself, but now I don't even bother looking at the standings.

Oh no - the gamut of emotions then! I think a lot of teams/fans suffered that on Saturday. Much better being out appreciating your bleu belles - wonder if they grow in France.

Oh! Phil! I so agree with you about the spelling...now the real secret to spelling is to get in into popular usage...so you spell them this way, and I'll spell them this way and we'll each ask a friend to not only spell them this way but to also ask another friend to do the same...etc...and just look at us a year from now!
