Flying Whippet by phil_howcroft

Flying Whippet

I'm sure some of you of a certain age have heard of 'flying pickets'.....either a band in the 80's or striking workers of the 80's.

Well this is a 'flying whippet' !!!

This is Ruby our Whippet playing 'catch the old shoe' in our back garden.

Picture 1 (the big picture) shows her in mid flight having missed the shoe

Picture 2 (top right) shows her eyes trained on the shoe ...notice the shoe mid air too

Picture 3 (bottom right) shows her soe in mouth, having caught the old shoe
Very cool

You and your camera did a magnificent job of catching Ruby in midair. She has boundless enthusiasm!

Those are great catches. Ruby is quite the jumper. I have Corgis - they don't jump very well.

Haha! Yes I remember the flying pickets! Fabulous action shots Phil! I can see Ruby would give Bertie a run for his money! Interested to note that you seem to have an unending source of old shoes!

@tishpics Patricia many thanks, I'm sure Ruby and Bertie would be 'bessie mates' , 'bessie whippets' ......When I ws walking Ruby tonight walking through our town centre she did a two legged walk on her back legs with me holding back the lead.......she was desperate to catch up with three young lads riding by on their push bikes....great life being a whippet !!!

@caddick Mike I'm sure you recognise the leaps !!!

@fannyb Ruby's agility really surprises me sometimes ...its a bit scary too when she leaps across obstacles

@swilde thank you Sue, your support for me on 365 is really appreciated , always look forward to your words :) ...especially as I get 365 email alerts on my mobile and your comments normally tinkle on my phone as I'm driving to work ...although I have to wait until I get to work before I read them !!!!

@happypat thanks Pat, We had a rescue whippet for 12 years before Ruby (a beautiful black and white one too ....but I don't think she was quite as agile as little Ruby ....although we rescued her at a slightly older age than Ruby)

@phil_howcroft Oh yes, I'm all too familiar with the two legged walk! Usually when he spots a rabbit or hare while on the lead!
