I tried to do a shot like this back in September, but failed with my focus. Yesterday I managed to get the shot I was after.
I'm still faffing around with monochrome conversions using GIMP and G'MIC.
This is from left to right...my wife Jane, my whippet dog Ruby and my youngest daughter Claire, walking in the Hobbucks area of Arnold,, Nottingham
They are walking into the light. The low autumn sun streaming into the frame from the right hand side, as 3 of my 4 favourite ladies walk from the shade of the trees into the bright light.
Ruby is wearing her best 'dog coat'.....as it tends to get cold for skinny whippets when the temperatures drop !
I added one of the many Agfa monochrome film filters available in G'MIC to do the conversion and added a tad bit of sharpening.
Looks good viewed large if you have time to click the magnifying glass.
This is a great walking into the light photo Phil...a fave for me. I like the light round Jane's hair & the very defined figures of the three of them...I am getting to like b/w much more & when you have very obvious contrasts as in this shot it looks superb.
Of course "walking into the light" ususally has a much more serious significance. I like yours better, Phil! What time does it get dark in Nottingham these days?
