Claire by phil_howcroft

Claire

This is my daughter Claire.

She accompanied my Mum to My Mums Niece's (My Dad's Brothers Daughter) Daughter's Wedding on Saturday.

This is Claire before she went to the wedding.

Shot on my Canon 60D with my 50mm lens. Claire is stood by our front window, illuminated by natural light (light coming in from the right hand side of the frame). Jane held a big piece of white card (just out of shot on the left hand side of the frame) to bounce some light back onto Claire.

Post processed in Rawtherapee.

Rawtherapee is an excellent open source (that means it is free) photo editing suite. Rawtherapee has a "Natural Skin Tones" setting which I used to help create what I think is an excellent shot. At ISO 800 , it was quite a high setting and f3.2 throws the background out of focus.

I will use another shot from the set to add to my 50 mono portraits at 50,, series

Claire looks gorgeous here. The skin tones are perfect

I like the way Claire's personality shines out from her portrait. And I like the way you seem to have involved most of the family in its creation!

@busylady thanks for the lovely words and fave judith

@judithg thanks judith, yes a proud dad :)

@sangwann thanks dione, natural lighting seems to work well :)

@nicoleterheide thank you nicole :)

@nicknac cheers nick, glad you like my technique

@happypat thanks Pat, I'm surprised how well my portraits turn out. One tip I learnt from Verity at our camera club is tilt your camera a little as this gives the portrait more dynamism. I think she was right :)

@kerristephens kerri , as always a big thanks for your support
