Over the last 3 days it has been a "heritage weekend" in the UK
Lots of building, museums, churches, civic building opened their doors free to the public.
We visited Newstead Abbey which is only a few minutes down the road.
Newstead Abbey is steeped in the history of Lord Byron / D H Lawerence.
When I say it was free, the Abbey was free admission, but you still had to pay to enter the grounds (£6-00) per car oe £1-00 per walker. We paid the "walkers fee'.
Edited in GIMP with a "National Geographic" filter (yes I did say National Geographic).
Just an invitation to take part in the F-word challenge. Any photo of something hanging from a chain or rope. There are so many things waiting to be photoghraphed. How about taking a photo of your favourite jewellery. A chain with a pendant or a light hanging on chains from the ceiling. Looking forward to see more photos in this challenge. For details see Discuss, themes...
Love that rounded turret with the beautiful window! Rupert Murdock has bought National Geographic! Might never be the same again...he will want to make money on it!
@sdutoit thanks for the invite Sylvia, I do struggle a bit with my photos, finding the time shoot, edit, post and comment can be difficult. I'll se what I can do :)
I hope the fee goes towards preserving the architecture
@busylady thanks Judith, , next year then :)
