On Saturday afternoon we nipped into Nottingham as we had some John Lewis Coffee and Cake vouchers (a loyalty offer for registered customer). we parked on the outskirts of the city, behind the Victoria Centre on the edge of the St. Ann's district.
After coffee I had a little wander towards St. Ann's and spotted this elderly gentlemen walking towards me from the housing estate towards the city.
I though "eh up here is a possible stranger" (eh up ...that is Nottingham twang) . Anyway I shot a urban streetie shot and waited for the gentleman to approach me. However I tried to make eye contact and engage him in conversation but he blanked me and walked by.
So it was a missed opportunity but yet another streetie to the recent streetie's I have been posting.
Oh and this is my second photo in the "flashofred2016" series

Not really an opportunity then if he wasn't up for a bit of chat. Still a nice photo with lots of contrasts. We also get those coffee and cake vouchers but don't always get the chance to spend them. What a waste!!! Our nearest John Lewis is in Cambridge, not that far away but we don't often have the need to go there.
Well done. I saw a TV programme recently made in the UK about UK people not wanting to make eye contact and not wanting to communicate with others. Whether it is true I do not know. The interviewed lots of people and gave their views.
I can understand your frustration for the missed opportunity. Your smile normally always gets you through. Even in this shot he does look a bit grumpy(!). Nice capture, still.
Glad you've joined in, Phil. It just does seem sometimes that folk 'don't want to know'. I always think they could be in a hurry, maybe not too well, unsure of themselves etc etc etc................
