100 Strangers : No. 69 : Lee

This is Lee, who was with stranger 68 (Colin) outside stadium MK as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations for the town of Milton Keynes. As part of the celebrations Milton Keynes was hosting an "Armed Forces Day". Lee and Colin were were representing the Household Cavalry and both were willing participant in my 100 strangers project.

I asked Lee about the "Armed Forces Day"., stating I thought it was early this year as it normally takes part in the summer months.

Lee said it was just a Milton Keynes day.

I told Lee I remembered when Nottingham played host to the Armed Forces Day in 2013.

Lee was surprised I remembered and said he was part of the Nottingham celebrations. I told Lee I remembered the event because I live in Nottingham.

Lee asked me where I lived in Nottingham as it was his hometown. I told Lee I lived in Arnold, which is just over the hill from where he was brought up.

I then had a little smile and thought how our stranger meetings and conversations often reveal connections and what a small world we live in .

Here I was, watching my team Bolton Wanderers, play at Milton Keynes and I ask a random stranger for a photo and he comes from a couple of miles up the road !

Anyway, It was a bright sunny day, so it was difficult to get some shade to photograph Lee.

I used a bit of shade from the Household Cavalry information tent and the backlog of the MK Dons Stadium to photograph Lee. I thought the backdrop of the stadium helped tell the story of the meeting.

I am sure you will agree Lee, with his beret, blue eyes and camouflage jacket makes a striking portrait

This picture is number 69 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

Fav. Another fantastic portrait shot, even though I preferred the one you took of his friend. The focus and dof are fabulous.
