We were in Nottingham city centre today as I had a couple of days off work.
Nottingham is attempting to become the European Capital of Culture in 2023.
In the market square the city were raising public awareness of the attempt by holding a display outside the council houses. The display involved a big wooden structure containing the numbers 2023. People were then invited to draw some artwork or messages on the numbers.
Part of the team supporting todays events was Emily, who is an illustrator.
I asked Emily how she had become involved in the event and Emily said when she heard of the bid, she emailed the city council offering some ideas and here she was today.
Emily is a freelance illustrator, born in mid Wales but has lived in Nottingham for twenty-seven years. Emily specializes in hand-drawn and hand-painted illustrations and artworks.
I took quite a few images of Emily. I like this one and chose it for the strangers project because I like the light entering the left hand side of the frame which has really brings out some lovely colours in Emily's hair.
Emiy's website, showcasing her work can be seen in the following url :
Fantastic portrait capture of her. I know a friend of my children who looks exactly like her but there is no connection between the two. Btw Valletta is the European Capital of Culture in 2018.
